Paranormal Questions and Answers

Q: One question I have is even if the orbs are dust or rain or whatever...why are they always perfectly round?

A: Many times airborne particulate matter takes on a circular shape as it is one of the most natural organic shapes that can be found. This tends to be especially true when the matter is suspended in mid-air and does not have a surface to affect the way that it forms. In some cases, even if the particulate matter is irregularly shaped a camera flash can reflect off of the matter (especially if it is close to the camera lens) and, although irregularly shaped the flash will "fill in" the void spots and the camera will interpret the flash/matter combination as an orb or other similarly shaped anomaly. This also tends to happen in cases of light refraction and lens flare.

Q: I see faces in orbs. That should prove that the orb is a spirit and not dust or something else, right?

A: Unfortunately it does not. The human mind is “hard wired” to take sensory input information from each of the five senses and interpret it into a form that can be understood by our intellect. On occasion the mind can not find a recognized “match” with which to align the sensory input. When this occurs the mind mistakenly matches the sensory input to an incorrect psychological image which results in what psychologists term a Type I Error. Generally a Type I Error is found to be a psychological misinterpretation and is understood as such by most people. There, are at times, individuals who can not differentiate between this error and reality. There are several psychological conditions that could be at fault which would make the error seem to have some sort of meaning. There are three primary conditions which would potentially explain this misinterpretation of sensory information: Fantasy-proneness, Pareidolia and Apophenia.

When speaking about fantasy-proneness in a psychological or parapsychological context the phrase would refer to a personality construct first described by Sheryl Wilson and Theodore Barber. The term refers to a small percentage of the population who fantasize a large part of the time and who typically see, hear, smell, touch and / or fully experience what they fantasize about. This construct, created by the individual is wholly in and of their own mind. This construct differs from daydreaming in that the individual who has created the construct seeks to, by reason of subconscious psychological induction, believe that they are experiencing or have experienced the particular construct that they are creating at the time.

Pareidolia is a type of illusion that involves vague or obscure stimulus which is perceived by an individual as something that is clear and distinct in their own mind. An example of this can be found in the 2005 sale of a burnt cheese sandwich for $5,000 (U.S.) on a popular internet auction site. It was suggested by someone that the image on the burnt portion of the cheese sandwich was a manifestation of the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus.  Other examples of this are when one sees the Virgin Mary in the reflection of residue on a recently washed window pane or the face of Jesus in the rear of acid washed denim pants.

First being discovered and defined in 1958 apophenia (uh-pof-nee-uh) is the spontaneous perception of connections and meaningfulness of unrelated, mundane events. This condition is similar to pareidolia, but it is more severe in nature. The propensity to perceive connections between unrelated objects or ideas closely links psychosis with creativity. It may be found that apophenia and creativity could be linked as similar processes of the same thought patterns.  Research indicates that high levels of dopamine in the body affect the propensity to find meaning, patterns, significance and, in an affected person’s own perception, meaning where there is none. This propensity is also related to a tendency to believe in significance of mundane, unrelated events and phenomenon.

Q: I’ve heard of “wormholes” and interdimensional portals in cemeteries that spirits can travel through to get from one cemetery to another. Is this true?

A: Unfortunately, there is no true way as of yet to scientifically prove or disprove this theory. Theoretically folding time and space is possible, which is what we are up against here. It does seem plausible, but highly unlikely, however. The reason that I say that it is highly unlikely is because certain scientists have stated that there are infinite numbers of dimensions. If interdimensional travel were to take place, a certain segment of these dimensions that would connect one place to the other would have to be under ideal conditions to be able to fall into a synchronistic rhythm for any length of time. Theoretically, if this event were to actually happen, even if the dimensions were only one degree “in phase” (synchronized) with each of the others, it would make a minute allowance for particulate electromagnetic matter, such as ghosts, to move through the “gate.” This, coupled with the thought that a ghost maintains their persona, memories, etc. would then almost completely rule out the thought of interdimensional travel by a ghost. I say this because if a ghost is indeed a person - minus their physically manifested body - then they would have to have understood and performed interdimensional travel while they were alive in order for them to have the ability to do so after they have died.

Q: In reference to the last question, how many dimensions are there?

A: It would depend on who you ask. Some scientists say 3, some say four, some say nine, etc. It is my belief, based on the understanding of evidence within the field of Quantum Mechanics that has been presented to me, that there is a very strong possibility that there are an infinite number of dimensions. This is due, in part, to the infinite amount of variables that could be factored in. To look at the argument from the infinitely small / infinitely large viewpoint we can see that although some scientist would say that sub-atomic particles are mass less, I believe that they have mass and that we simply have no way to measure any volume of mass that small accurately. These are possibly the same scientists who feel that the speed of light is constant (which has recently been disproved). Remember, nothing is impossible, only improbable.

Q: I have heard of routine hauntings where the witness has only seen certain parts of the ghost. Why does this happen?

A: The most streamlined answer that I can offer is because of linear instability in the electromagnetic structure of the manifestation where only a portion of the total ghost can be viewed. There a number of factors that can cause this, but the primary culprit is usually due to electromagnetic instability in the wavelength of the ghost. There may also be some sort of electromagnetic “white noise” disruption or interference within the area of the manifestation that causes the ghost to appear this way. Finally, we have to take into account the degree of perceptive ability of the viewer themselves.

Q: I’ve heard many horrible ghost stories as a child, but in each of the paranormal cases that I’ve witnessed the ghost seems quite “normal.” Why the drastic difference?

A: If you recall the three primary reasons in the opening pages of this guide there were several reasons as to why we have these preconceived stereotypes. This bit of information will almost answer the question by itself; however, there is another side to this answer. The second portion of this answer can be attributed to the charge embedded in the electron streams in the body while the person was still alive. These electrons, which once formed the intangible aspect of the person was laced with their unique personal DNA. DNA or Deoxyribonucleic Acid, which is found in every cell in the human body, is “encrypted” with all of that individual’s personal genetic information from the time of conception all the way until the time of death.

The information brought into this living biosphere over a lifetime is still conveyed through the electromagnetic manifestation via that persons still-functioning DNA encoding within their existing electrons. This is why, when a full bodied manifestation occurs they seem to retain their former personality, their physical traits, and look and act as they did in life at one time or another. This is how they “remember” themselves as they were, and thusly how they manifest - as they remember themselves to be in their “memory.”

Q: In light of the previous answer, you are telling me that each true ghost has their own personality?

A: Yes, because each of these manifestations, for the most part, were attached to a living being at one time or another. As such they still tend to carry the same traits that they had in life.

Q: In the last answer you said that each manifestation was attached to a living being… for the most part. What did you mean by that?

A: I say for the most part because at various times you will run upon an entity that was not attached to any human body at any time during its existence. I am not seeking to express support nor to discredit the beliefs in angels, demons, and other spiritual creatures, only to express the opinion that there is more in the universe than what most of us truly understand and that there is. There may be other entities that exist on another plane or within another dimension that we do not fully understand at this point in our history of existence as a race. Our overall knowledge of the universe as a whole is very limited.

Q: Why do I “feel” rather than see or hear these ghosts?

A: Because of the separation in the various areas in the electromagnetic spectrum we find that many times it is difficult to view a ghost with our eyes; however our sub-conscious psychological perception is not fooled by the illusory effects of the eyes. Due the area of the electromagnetic spectrum that is sympathetic to the frequency of the ghost’s own electrical charge it will, for the most part, render the ghost as being nearly optically impossible to view via human perception. We can, however, “feel” or psychologically sense a ghost’s presence due to our subconscious ability to interpret these electron fields as feelings. Expressing this thought in layman’s terms would be to say that the reason that we more often “feel” ghosts rather than see them is that although their manifested electrical patterns are out of the area of visible human perception, their biomagnetic field, or aura, is not. We experience these feelings via the sub-conscious mind which is not deceived by the conscious mind and the five senses. Psychic sensitivity is another reason. Depending on how sensitive you are to the environment and the energies within it you may “feel” a ghost rather than see it.

Q: What is the difference between a free roaming ghost and a ghost with a linear association?

A: A free roaming ghost is one who’s streaming electron particles are not restricted by geographic boundaries or various psychological barriers or impediments. Subsequently this type of ghost may move wherever it wishes within a given space or period of time. A ghost with a “linear association” is restricted in the amount of mobility it may achieve during any given manifestation. It may be “tied” to a certain object or place.

Q: What you’re saying sounds like you are referring to a repeat haunting. Aren’t there opponents of the “repeat haunting” theory who would refute this?

A: Yes. However, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I would like to share with you why I feel the “repeat haunting” theory is a viable one. Given all of the previous information on Thermodynamics, Electromagnetic Spectrum, and the Space/Time Continuum we can now discuss this topic in a rational, scientific manner. I feel that “repeat haunting” is possible, not because the entity does not possess a sentient persona, but rather (a) they are “stuck” in their own area of the Space/Time Continuum (a personally created dimension - their own world if you will) and (b) they may be restricted to that certain area that they haunt because at the moment of death that area was potentially an place which contained a considerable electron deficit. Also, at the time of death that person ( c ) may have had a sense of duty or obligation which has kept him or here until that matter is cleared up to their satisfaction.

In any case, it would seem that what has happened is that at the moment of death the newly released free streaming electrons, which incidentally contained facets of that person’s physical DNA, bonded to the area or object which had the electron deficit, therefore filling that deficit and effectively “trapping” certain facets of that person’s bioelectric structure within it. However, rest assured that I’m not saying your antique furniture is “possessed” by dear Uncle Steve. There have been reported cases where a spirit has bonded to a certain piece of furniture or other object and consequently went wherever the object was, however this is the exception, not the rule.

Q: You’re telling me that a ghost can become “tied” to certain objects or to a place because of an electron deficit?

A: Yes. However, there are other reasons which may cause a personal biomagnetic field to remain in one place or another. This situation is called an imprint, and like a repeat haunting, there are opponents who will refute this theory as well. For reasons already discussed in the last answer we will skip the preliminary to this conversation and get right to the heart of the matter. An imprint is simply a repeat haunting, however it lacks one important feature, a signature form. This is simply the remnants of free electrons that bonded to a specific place or object in a time of extreme emotional or psychological crisis. This emotional or psychological charge either bonded to an object or area that had an electron deficit or it may have embedded itself into the shells of the existing electron structure as the event played out. In either case, the charges of these electrons are naturally dissipating as they are released in waves, away from the core energy source. This is why the same predictable events play out at a certain time in a certain place, over and over again.

Q: Why do ghosts exist?

A: The answer to that question could be debated for as long as there would be people around to debate it. My personal feeling is that ghosts can continue on, disembodied, for as long as their electron bonds hold together and for as long as their mental energy and will allows. However, their purpose, which may differ from individual to individual, is wholly unknown to me. Anyone who says that he or she knows with absolute certainty what the root purpose(s) of all hauntings are will probably be discovered as a profound liar.

I don’t believe that there is any “blanket explanation” as to why ghosts exist. Some people would say that ghosts attempt to stay in the physically manifested realm to finish unfinished business, others would say that they stay to help the living, yet others would attempt to find a self righteous religious rationale and say because they were damned by God, and others would say to relive the happiest times of their lives, however these are only attempts at an explanation as to why ghosts exits. I would venture to say that most times ghosts have their own reasons for continuing their existence. Why don’t you ask one? You never know, you may just get some EVP.

Q: I have heard that when a ghost is around electronics will malfunction. Is that true?

A: Yes and No. Occasionally electronics will malfunction because of the electromagnetic interference that the entity puts off, which is of no fault of its own. Rather it is just an accidental electrical side-effect of the beings electromagnetic make-up. The electrical field usually has to be very strong to cause interference or the field that is causing the disruption must be on a specific frequency to match that of the item that it is interfering with. This may also explain why new batteries which are unshielded go dead occasionally when an investigation is being performed.

Q: What are ghosts made of?

A: Unlike popular film and media would have you believe, ghosts, as far as their actual physical make up are simply streams of free electrons projecting in a manner that would create a visual form or psychological impression similar to their previous living form, not some kind of slimy residual goo. This form, when projected onto a “canvas” of electromagnetic energy (or the subconscious mind) creates a viewable electromagnetic form which would be perceived as the ghost. These electron streams, when intertwined, show that the sum total of their integration which is a direct and potentially visible result on the electromagnetic spectrum which can be perceived by the human eye and then interpreted by the brain.

Q: What do you mean when you say “Disembodied Bioelectric Anomaly or DBA?”

A: Simply put the acronym is just a scientific phrase that means “ghost.”

Q: What is the difference between an Electromagnetic Field and a Bioelectric Field?

A: An electromagnetic field is one whose source could be any number of general frequencies found within any of the various ranges of the Electromagnetic Spectrum. These are a portion of the whole, which can be utilized by disembodied electromagnetic anomalies to manifest within. We can qualify this thought without the need to specifically pinpoint one area or the other within the Electromagnetic Spectrum.

A Bioelectric Field, or Aura, is a naturally generated electrical field on a 60 Hz frequency that has its core source of energy as a still living being. Simply put the electromagnetic field (or spectrum) is the area where the ghost manifests in, where the bioelectric is the manifestation of the entity itself.

Q: Can you define an “Aural Shift?”

A: An aural shift occurs when a living beings bioelectric energy shifts in magnetic polarity from one extreme to another. This shift can cause an energetic imprint to occur in locations that have electron deficits or in areas that are easily susceptible or permeable to electron bonding. This is especially true when the fields being projected are heavily laden with emotion or psychological energy.

Q: In parapsychology, how do you define an amplifier?

A: An amplifier, in relation to paranormal studies, is any energy field that is radiated by a person or object, either intentionally or unintentionally, that has the effect of increasing the potential strength of a manifestation or the aiding in the ability of a manifestation to materialize. Simply put this would be considered to be any person, object, etc. that can potentially increase the ability of a paranormal manifestation.

Q: So an amplifier is a type of catalyst, somewhat like what is found in cases of violent sub-conscious unintentional telekinesis, right?

A: In a matter of speaking, yes. This is because the person, who possesses these latent talents, although they may not be aware of them, acts as the variable. The variable can depend on that person’s emotional and psychological state at the time of events. We have found that this type of psychokinetic (PK) event is most often linked to a young person in their teen years, as this is one of the times where an individual experiences certain changes of mind, body, emotion, and spirit, as well as the energies and effects that come with it.

Q: What is the difference between Telekinesis vs. Pyschokinesis?

A: Psychokinesis, as described by the Random House Dictionary of the English Language, is “The production of motion in a body without the apparent application of material force.” Hence, this is an intentionally directed stream of electrons which has been manipulated by a direct, conscious, and influential force of someone’s will. Telekinesis is simply an antiquated term for the former.

Q: How would you explain clairvoyance?

A: If all energy, specifically in the form of electrons, is linked on a sub-molecular level within the electromagnetic spectrum this would, theoretically, form a world-wide “net” of mental electrical energy. This net, being a natural conductor of mental impulses, would function on the same frequency as the human mind and could then act as a natural viaduct for electronic information via mental stimulus for information to be carried to any receptive point worldwide, as long as the progressive chain of electrons would remain unbroken. The core characteristic of a true clairvoyant is the ability to perform a highly accurate ratio of predictions within the near future via the visions, psychic images, and impressions that they view and interpret. Also, this worldwide Etheric “mindnet” would not affected by time, space, distance, the limitation of the five senses, or any of the other factors that generally act as a variable to situations that apply to interpersonal communication. The main factor that limits our access to this “mindnet” is our own consciousness as well as our level of awareness and education about it.

Q: What would you define as a “highly accurate” ratio for clairvoyance?

A: Highly accurate, in the opinion of most of my colleagues, would be a great deal more than the Laws of Statistics and Probability would make concession for. In this case, a minimum of 75% accuracy.

Q: Isn’t Precognition the same as clairvoyance, then?

A: No. The defining factors here are that when someone has a precognitive episode it is usually a one time ordeal and it is not controlled or induced in any way by the person having the vision.

Q: Ok, so it would seem that precognition is more similar to Déjà vu in these terms.

A: Yes. Although with Déjà vu the person normally has to be presently experiencing the events to have the feeling or sensation that they have experienced these surroundings or circumstances before. This is unlike precognition because in this case the person experiences the events before they happen. Also, Déjà vu is a much more common phenomenon.

Q: Why is Déjà vu a more commonly accepted and more of a wide spread phenomenon?

A: Déjà vu is accepted on a much larger scale simply because it (a) it is generally experienced at least several times throughout a persons lifetime, and (b) it seems that déjà vu is “only a strange feeling” in the minds of most people, not an actual psychic event. However, it should be noted that déjà vu is more closely related to sub-conscious precognitive abilities than it is to some of the other Psi (psychic) abilities which allow for the abilities or phenomenon of prediction.

Q: What is Astral Travel?

A: Astral travel, in its most basically defined form is the ability of the intangible aspect of the sub-conscious mind to depart from the conscious mind, which normally occurs when the person is either sleeping or in a meditative state. One of the most defining and unique characteristics of astral travel is that it is characterized by a vivid dream like state. I say dream like because the person experiencing the events can usually feel, taste, smell, see, and hear the people and events that are going on around them. The person experiencing these events usually retains all of their conscious thought and reasoning processes as well as the ability to utilize all of their bodily and sensory functions while in this state.

This type of “first person” control is generally not found when a person is actually dreaming. Interaction with others is also possible in this state. Many times, if this is similar to a real life situation that the person finds themselves in within the near future they then will experience what we have defined as déjà vu. Some persons, like others with legitimate psychic abilities can control where they go and what they do, however this is not the case most of the time. Many times, when astral travel is experienced, it is purely by accident. It should be known that there are those with legitimate abilities along these lines who have trained themselves to utilize their abilities in a manner where they can choose what period of time they go to, what area of the world, and even whom they may encounter, but this is closer to remote viewing than astral travel.  On a final note about astral travel, it has been found that most persons who experience this vivid state generally tend to remember most of the details of their experiences like the events actually happened to them in the manifested world.

Q: What is remote viewing?

A: Remote viewing is an advanced form of astral travel. This is a controlled state where the conscious mind utilizes the ability of the sub-conscious mind to tap into the “world wide mental net” that we discussed previously. From there, once access is gained via the sub-conscious mind, the conscious mind then takes over and guides the control subject to a specific time, place, or event so that they may witness it or even, in some cases, reputedly change the outcome of the event.

Q: So, what about ESP?

A: ESP or Extra Sensory Perception acts as a communicable link outside of normal sensory activity which is exhibited in telepathy or clairvoyance and is commuted by the worldwide mental energy net that has been previously discussed.

Q: What is a conduit?

A: A conduit is a person or object that either knowingly or unknowingly acts as a point of attachment, or gateway, for an entity to manifest into the physical world.

Q: So a conduit is like a medium then?

A: No. A medium expressly seeks a certain point of contact with a specific person or being via their reputed psychic abilities, whereas a conduit, for the most part, is not aware of the part that they play in acting as a catalyst for certain events.

Q: How do you define telepathy?

A: This is a type of mental communication between the minds of two conscious, sentient beings by means other than normal sensory perception. It is similar to clairvoyance, however, the two main features that distinguish telepathy from clairvoyance is that (a) the mind is actively communicating on a real-time basis with another sentient individual (b) where as clairvoyance acts as mental imagery of events and circumstances before they happen, not while they are happening.

Q: What is “Psychometry?”

A: Psychometry is similar to telepathy but instead of receiving the information via electron signals through mental interaction with another being they do so when they touch an object and absorb a portion of its free electrons. People who truly possess this ability are very rare. The way it works is that the electrons, encoded with the history and events that have transpired, can now paint clear image on a mental canvas for persons who possess this ability.

Q: Ok, getting away from the psychic side and back to ghosts, why do many people experience a “cold spot” when there are ghostly anomalies in the area?

A: This one took me a minute, but I do have a good albeit somewhat complex answer. It seemed that there was a paradox found here because most ghostly encounters occur on the infrared wavelength, which we understand via our sensory perception as heat. This is only in the case of IR radiation however. Speaking strictly from the standpoint of light, and not conductive radiation, we know that IR light on the Electromagnetic Spectrum has a wavelength, which is measured in cm, that is equivalent to 0.01 - 7x10 to the negative fifth (5th ) power, the frequency is 3x10 to the twelfth (12th) power to 4.3x10 to the fourteenth power (14th) and the energy is 0.01 - 2 eV (eV - electron volts).

What is most important here as far as our heat factor is the measurable amount of energy. We know that light in any form will produce some form of heat, no matter how slight. However when an area is bombarded with two types of light such as visible light and IR light there will be a measurable difference between the two, especially when they are isolated from each other and not allowed to naturally disperse or integrate as they should. In understanding this basic principle between the two types of light we can note that there is a significant difference between the two as far as energy is concerned. This difference in energy also affects the amount of heat energy within the area of certain radius around the anomaly which is then understood by sensory perception of humans as a heat imbalance, or a “cold spot.” This imbalance in the natural temperature, which comes as two different forms of heat radiation, explains why we experience “cold spots” when there is an electromagnetic anomaly, such as ghost is in an area.

When a cold spot occurs it presents itself as the physically manifested difference between the expansion and contraction of heat within the various portions of the EM spectrum on the physical plane. It should also be remembered that just because the anomaly exists within the IR field that does not mean that the anomaly is part of the IR spectrum. In this manner they absorb heat from the IR spectrum to rebuild their own energy. Hence Faraday’s Law of “…power induces power.”

Q: Why do I see shadows and movement out of the corner of my eye, but when I look to see what it was, there is nothing there?

A: Your sub-conscious mind can “see” and interpret things that your conscious mind cannot. This is because, for the most part, your peripheral vision works with your sub-conscious mind rather than your conscious mind, which is ruled by societies accepted communal logic. Therefore, on an ethereal level, your sub-conscious mind can comprehend the actions and manifestations that your conscious mind blocks out.

Have you ever been to a place that you just didn’t like because it didn’t “feel” right? That was your sub-conscious mind interpreting the energies in the area. It found something there that it understood and felt threatened by or uncomfortable with and was alerting your conscious mind to that fact. The sub-conscious mind then translated that message to the dominant conscious mind in the form of emotional feelings.

Q: Ok Sherlock, if you’re so smart tell me why, in the cases of some haunting, there are unexplainable noises and / or voices but when these noises or voices are investigated there has been no disturbance.

A: Elementary, my dear Watson! Refer back to section 2 where the various types of energy in the Electromagnetic Spectrum was discussed and there you will find the answer that you seek (or you can just continue reading).

We already know that most electromagnetic phenomenon, as far as ghosts go, take place within the IR spectrum (which has a frequency of 3x10 to the twelfth (12th) power a wavelength of 0.01 - 7x10 cm. to the negative fifth (5th) power and an energy of 0.01-2 eV) , however in the case of audible sounds, we find that these are much lower on the scale (as these have a wavelength of  10 cm. or greater, a frequency of 3x10 to the ninth (9th) power, and an energy of less that 10 to the negative fifth (5th ) power), and therefore are harder to perceive through normal sensory means. Many times we find that these sounds are streams of electronically embedded past life events dissipating in present time, as was explained earlier. These low frequency occurrences do not possess the energy it would take to create a visible manifestation or to actually create any type of movement among objects with any substantial mass.  Don’t take this as gospel though. EVP can occur at any time and may potentially be from a sentient ghost in the area rather than from dissipating electrons from a recurring event.

Q: Why do some people experience ghostly phenomenon and some don’t?

A: This is a complex question that can usually only be answered on an individual basis, however I will attempt to make a “blanket” explanation that may aid you in understanding each individuals unique circumstances.

The first reason some persons experience this type of phenomenon and others do not is their present level of psychic sensitivity. This is a natural ability that all persons possess to one degree or another. This sensitivity can be greatly affected by the society and culture that we have been raised in, as the social conscience of what the community level of acceptance is on psychic awareness will directly affect the circumstances of that individual’s degree of perception. This type of accepted social “psychological culture” can either be instrumental or detrimental to the development of individual’s mental skills, at least in the area of sensitivity.

The second factor involved is our conscious mind. We can train our conscious mind to override and block out things that we feel are a threat to us or that we do not understand or comprehend. When we properly understand how to harness our abilities we can use our conscious mind as a tool to aid us in opening up the realms of possibility that lie beyond what we perceive as being real through the limited abilities of our five senses. If we make a conscious effort to attune ourselves to the various electromagnetic frequencies that are available for our experience, we will find that our minds will open up to a greater degree and we will have more of a capacity to understand the things that we could not previously.

Lastly, yes, there are some persons who are innately born with certain “gifts” that are available for their employ at any time or place, but for the most part, individuals who possess these abilities must work to keep them, for if they do not these abilities will become like an unused muscle that does not receive exercise. They will atrophy and wither away from disuse.

Q: Can Human presence in an area cause ghosts not to manifest?

A: For the most part, yes. Large amounts of human activity or a great deal of human presence in an area can disrupt the weaker bioelectric fields of ghosts which would be overpowered by the presence of Humans. The instability in the bioelectric field of ghosts would be disrupted and the integrity of the field destroyed. Even though this is true for most cases, it is not true for all. In some cases the presence of Humans acts as a catalyst and can make some paranormal activity stronger.

Q: Why are certain smells associated with various ghosts?

A: This is a speculative answer that I will give in two parts. For the ghosts that have a scent of flowers, perfume, cigars or pipes, or other similar substances, it may be possible that this effect is a result of electron bonding with the actual cells on the surface of the skin while the person was still alive. This cohesive bonding may have been transmitted through the cells of that person via the electrons in the molecules of the cells, and thus was actually absorbed into that person’s electromagnetic structure before death. This is similar to the way some people smell like cigarette smoke even though they are not currently smoking a cigarette and the scent is not in their clothes. A certain scent association may have been a synonymous with that person while alive, and thus had become part of their personal repertoire.

The second explanation that I have for this question is for the ghosts who bring a less-that-pleasant scent with them. My thoughts on this are that most likely it is not their fault; rather it is simply a reaction from their manifested presence to the bacteria in the air around them. Occasionally, when cells are in the process of decomposition the air-born bacteria in the atmosphere will be naturally attracted to the source if the electromagnetic anomaly manifests and some of its biochemical bonds begin to deteriorate due to exposure to light, air, or both. When this type of odor occurs, the electrochemical bonds begin to break down and we notice an unpleasant smell in the air. This rule applies to both carbon tissue based entities as well as electromagnetic entities.

It has been noted however, that some entities bring with them an innately foul odor that can not be explained for this reason. In most cases these entities are not ghosts, but rather something more sinister.

Q: I have seen the movies, is real ectoplasm anything like what is on screen?

A: No, ectoplasm is actually a photographic phenomenon that usually shows up as an anomaly that resembles a dense fog or mist. The two main, defining traits between fog or mist and ectoplasm is that ectoplasm tends to be generally contained in a singular area in the photograph and it will usually exhibit defined energy patterns within its mass whereas a mist does not. It is usually associated with the swirling electromagnetic energy that is produced by the manifestation of a ghost.

Q: What is EVP?

A: These letters are the acronym for Electronic Voice Phenomenon. It should be noted that this type of electromagnetic sound falls into the “radio wave” category of the EMS (Electromagnetic Spectrum). As we had discussed earlier, radio waves are of a wavelength that is too large, a frequency that is too low, and possess energy that is far too subtle for general human perception. This is where the electronic medium of cassette tape or digital recorders comes in. Working on the same principles of sound and radio waves, these sound recorders (either digital or cassette tape) can locate and record low level biomagnetic sound frequencies. Most times these frequencies are very weak and hard to distinguish, but they can usually be understood in an adequate manner simply by listening carefully to the recording several times. Fakes are easily identified by their clarity, and if the equipment is available, through voice imaging procedures as well.

Q: What is a Vortex?

A: A vortex is another electromagnetic anomaly that is found in photographs. It seems to be a spiral of oscillating, rotating energy that is transmuting from its potential to kinetic form. Occasionally these have orbs within them that can also be seen. Vortices are not always synonymous with hauntings however. The vortices that are not associated with hauntings tend to be natural electromagnetic anomalies bleeding off excess electrons through Etheric dissipation.

There have been times when camera straps have been mistaken for vortices; however, the obvious difference is that camera straps are solid where as vortices usually are not, also, camera straps can not defy gravity as vortices often do. Also, most camera straps are black nylon where as vortices are usually white. Camera straps tend to have a certain degree of consistency in their appearance when photographed close up, where vortices can be highly irregular in their appearance. At times there may be several vortices in an area, a vortex that is splitting, or a vortex that has an orb (or orbs) within it. Sometimes the vortices have an open ended appearance, somewhat like a small “tornado” if you will. These instances of manifestation obviously can not be explained by the camera strap theory.

Q: What is an orb?

A: An orb is a form of manifestation created by a bioelectric anomaly that is most often seen in photographs. These are usually dense, circular balls of electromagnetic matter that are most often associated with haunted areas.

These are easily distinguished from the natural phenomenon of “ball lightning” which is nothing more than static electricity, earth lights which are illuminated gasses refracting low level light radiation, and “dust orbs” which may be circular, elliptical, or irregularly shaped and generally transparent. In addition to shape and transparence dust and pollen orbs are usually colored light green or yellow and are not self-luminous.

There are several types of orbs, but all genuine orbs will appear as being three dimensional, perfectly circular, opaque (rather than transparent) , and they will seem to emit their own light (self-luminescent) when viewed in a photograph. Some orbs will seem to have a greater degree of luminosity than others, but true orbs will always seem to stand out in a photograph because of their “glow.” The two main types of orbs that an investigator will encounter will be human spirit orbs and animal spirit orbs. Unfortunately there are no definitive answers as to the forms that ghosts must take when they manifest, which is why we, as paranormal researchers and investigators, face such a challenge in this field - there are no rules that are set in stone and there are also an infinite amount of variables which we face while working in the world of intangible energies.

There is a footnote that should be added to the answer on orbs. This is about the effects of dust or moisture in the atmosphere while taking photographs. Dust, pollen, insects, and moisture can produce false orbs and other anomalies on a photograph, and although they may look convincingly real they can be readily identified by the trained eye. Also, I stated that orbs are most often seen in photographs, which is true. On rare occasion these orbs, have manifested into a semi-solid form. On the rare occasion when they have manifested to the human eye, they do so as glowing, rapidly moving balls of electromagnetic energy. These are commonly called “spirit balls” or “spirit lights,” and have been documented in various parts of the world for almost as long as man has had the ability to record these type of events.

Q: Is a mist the same as ectoplasm?

A: No. A mist is a thinner less dense mass of Etheric electromagnetic energy which tends to be more translucent than ectoplasm. Although mists and ectoplasm look similar in terms of photographic manifestation an experienced paranormal researcher will notice the denser, more defined streams of energy (and possibly orbs) within an ectoplasmic mass, which mists are devoid of. Mists have also been documented as appearing on photographs as having various hues throughout the overall surface of the anomaly. These colors have been documented as being pink, red, blue, green, black, yellow or gold, and the traditional white. Although this list is obviously not all inclusive it will give you a general idea of the range of color that these types of anomalies can manifest in.

Q: What are “energy ribbons?”

A: An energy ribbon is normally found to be one or more highly energized bioelectric streams of electrons that are sharply defined in a photograph due to the emission of their own luminescence. These energy ribbons can have a rather large spectral range in color and are found to have dynamic free movement. In theory these highly charged, vary dense streams of electromagnetic energies are “tails” or “streamers” of electromagnetic pulses that follow an entity when it moves rapidly from one location to another. Energy ribbons could be described as looking like small bolts of lightning or streams of fire crossing the path of the photo.

Q: So, what exactly, is a ghost?

A: In the purest scientific definition a ghost is an intangible mass of bioelectric energy that was released from the physical body at the time of a person’s physical death. This bioelectric anomaly, when physically manifesting, usually takes on the physical form of the “host” body that it had in life, as this is how it “remembers” itself looking. The other factor that may influence this form is that the electrons within the mass may have some of the remaining genetic code form the physical body’s DNA still left in it and subsequently would take on that still familiar form. Due to these factors a ghost will continue to maintain the psychological traits that were unique to itself during its physically manifested lifetime.

Q: How can you prove that ghosts exits?

A: As of yet there is no rock solid tangible way that I, or anyone else, can physically “prove” to anyone beyond the shadow of any doubt that ghosts exist. There will always be skeptics, however, from the mounting tide of accurate scientific information, through various forms of traditional and digital media, as well as information from the scientific community that continues to support the theory of the existence of ghosts, the reality of actual hardcore proof may not be to far off in the near future. Until that time, researchers will continue to diligently strive for new avenues of understanding and insight. At this present point in history we have an almost undeniable burden of proof of the existence of ghosts. This work you are presently reading holds true to that burden.

Through the use of ever advancing scientific tools, as well as with the support that can be gathered from the various figures in the scientific community we shall continue our research to aid mankind’s quest for the answer to the ultimate question - “Where do we go when we die?”

Q: I think my house is haunted, how can I tell?

A: This is both a tough and tricky question that I will answer to the best of my ability. It must be remembered, there are more people in the world who have died than there are alive at the present time. At times, even new buildings that have no previous history of paranormal activity may show signs that are the stereotypical signals of paranormal activity. The reason for this is that typically, ghosts, like all other sentient beings, are drawn to an environment, person, or persons that are in some way similar to them or the way that they were in life.

Most times this is due to the type of bioelectric energy that is in an environment. If there are persistent and repeated symptoms that are typical of hauntings, such as various types of physical manifestations, auditory or olfactory sensations that are not concurrent with the present environment, drastic differences in temperature within a relatively close area, items that disappear and reappear, unexplained air movement, telekinetic activity, feelings of being watched or followed, feelings of dread or fear in certain areas, or other related events, this could be a very strong signal that there is a displaced electromagnetic presence that has been inadvertently drawn into your environment. I’m sure you noticed that even though I have stated that ghosts have their own sentient personality, they also, at times act on instinct, being drawn to a certain type of environment. Granted, this list is not all-inclusive and the manifestations that occur will vary from situation to situation.

Most times, the ghosts will come and go with no real effect on anyone’s life, and they usually do so without anyone ever knowing that they were there. However, on occasion there are those who wish to stay. The greater percentage of the time these ghosts who do stay, or are “inherited” with the purchase of a house or other object, such as furniture, and mean no harm. Sometimes these ghosts can actually be friendly or comforting in times of need. Occasionally when unexplainable events do occur, they mean no harm. For the most part they only want to be noticed. If you wish to know for sure whether your house may be haunted you can either contact an experienced paranormal investigator or you may wish to study more on the subject and go about investigating the situation on your own.

On one last note, if there is ever anyone that tells you that they can either give you a snap diagnosis of what is happening as far as paranormal activity in your home, or if they tell you that they have a course that you can learn in “10 minutes” or any other ridiculously short period of time, I wouldn’t trust them. To truly understand what is happening as far as a true scientific investigation is concerned takes time, effort, research, and a through and knowledgeable investigation.

Q: Will ghosts follow you home after an investigation?

A: The odds of this sort of event happening are extremely low, a virtual impossibility. Ghosts, like humans, are creatures of habit and when they are comfortable in a certain situation, or even at times uncomfortable, they generally will not “move” from one residence to another. I personally have never heard of a situation like this, but that is not to say that I would completely rule out the possibility.

Q: Are ghosts able to eat food?

A: This question has a long and illustrious history behind it. Records of ancient civilizations that date as far back as the Mesopotamians reveal that cultures have, and in some cases, still do leave offerings of food to their ancestors and to other familiar spirits so that they may look favorably on the fate of the living. In a scientific aspect, the argument may arise that the spirit has no physical body or means to digest the food, so therefore it is silly to waste food as an offering.

This thought is both true and false. While it is true that a spirit can not physically consume the food, it is not the physical nutrition that they desire. It is the electromagnetic energy from these offerings that they “feed” on, in a manner of sorts. The energy expended in the preparation and cooking as well as the energy that is in the food when it is offered is what the spirit desires. When food is consumed and digested by humans the sugars, proteins, carbohydrates and so on are broken down into their base forms to give our body’s energy and nutrition. Even though a ghost can not physically consume the food or other offering they can still feed off of the energies within it.

Various religious and esoteric sources also reveal that offerings of all types were made in ancient culture; everything from food to incense to gold. Why? Is there more to this ancient practice than meets the eye? Yes there is. Again, different offerings possess different electromagnetic values which “empowered” the spirit so to speak. Our ancient neighbors did not understand, from a scientific standpoint why the ghosts would come, but they knew that they would when offerings were left out for them. Hence they felt that this was a signal of good fortune if the spirits of the dead were happy in the afterlife.

Q: Can ghosts travel at will?

A: Some can to a certain extent, but the limitations of travel of individual sentient spiritual beings, in a physical sense of distance may be limited by any number of variable factors, especially how much energy is expended before the manifestation destabilizes and dissipates. There is an unproven theory which was briefly discussed at the beginning of this section, that states that ghosts may possess the ability to utilize interdimensional “wormholes” to various destinations. If you recall my comments on this topic, I said that I believed it to be probable, but highly unlikely.

Some added reasons to support my belief that this act would be improbable is that (a) the inability of the individual during their lifetime to comprehend and utilize the potential of interdimensional travel and (b) the degree of difficulty in naturally aligning three, four, seven, nine, or possibly infinite various dimensions that may intersect, run parallel to each other, etc. Also this act would have to be performed in a manner that would allow a great enough rift for sub-particulate matter to flow through the synchronized opening, as well as a great enough increment of time that would be sufficient enough to allow matter of this type passage through the rift.

The way that ghosts “travel” is not as you and I think of it. Ghosts, as beings of pure electromagnetic energy, have the ability to diffuse their molecular structure (which would probably occur naturally rather than by conscious will), which is in an already unstable state and project this electromagnetic sub-molecular matter in a manner that allows them to move through “solid” objects, thusly “willing” themselves to “walk” or “move” in a certain manner.

The roaming range of a ghost would also be limited by physics. The First Law of Thermodynamics, also known as the Law of Conservation of Energy would limit the amount of expendable energy that a ghost would have to travel with.

Q: How fast can ghosts travel?

A: Although ghosts are in the form of energy they still tend to believe that they travel as they did in life, thusly they tend to move as they did. However speaking in terms of scientific potential they could travel as fast as the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that they are manifested on.

As far as physical objects go we understand that the maximum velocity of any object in free fall is 227 miles per hour but ghosts, being made of electromagnetic energy are not limited by the Coefficient of Friction in the air. Nor are they limited in this way by gravity, temperature, etc. however they are slowed, at least in a small measure, when their biomagnetic field collides with a dissimilar field of particulate matter. The answer to this question is most easily answered not by comparison but by a simple mathematical formula. Understanding that any object with mass (even energy) exerts gravitational force we can equate the formula this way V = GT or velocity (V) is equal to gravitational acceleration (G) multiplied by elapsed time (E).

Q: Do ghosts get lonely?

A: Yes. Their still very human tendencies can cause this type of feelings. This is especially true of those who have recently been introduced to “the other side.” These new ghosts don’t understand how things operate in their new state and consequently are confused and possibly frustrated, especially since they now lack a physical body to perform any sort of action in. These ghosts have no one to turn to for support, no one to ask for advice, etc.

I used this analogy earlier in the book: Imagine being in a room full of people whom you thought were friends and loved ones, but upon your arrival no one would visually acknowledge you or listen when you spoke no matter how loud you yelled. This is part of what they experience. Friends and loved ones who do not understand how to interpret certain signs of a spiritual presence usually fail to realize that there is a presence with them. Most times when a ghost manifests, it does so for a reason. Although these reasons are as varied and individual as the ghosts themselves, there is always a reason for it.

Q: Does everyone become a ghost when they die?

A: No. Many times, it seems, ghosts either stay here because they are “kept” here, as they feel that they are bound here for one reason or another, or they may want to continue on in this physically manifested existence. They may feel that they have some other personal reason or agenda that they feel necessitates their continued existence instead of progressing on to the next level, and so forth. As the information that is currently available corroborates this indication, advocates of this theory seem to postulate that the continued existence of a persons spiritual existence post mortem is due to the fact that they have reasons and conscious will, sometimes only known to themselves, to continue on with their life, even if it is after their physical death.

Q: Do all ghosts belong to one worldwide community?

A: Yes and no. This can be explained by two lines of reasoning. The first reason is that the level of social consciousness and perception may not be adequate enough to allow the ghost to cross cultural barriers to contact others of dissimilar world views. Also, in line with the last comment our conscious awareness creates our own “universe” so to speak. Just as you are not aware of the existence of persons that you have never met we could then reason that if a ghost was only self-aware, and not consciously aware of the presence of other ghosts he or she would be the only being in existence in their perceived universe, even though there may be other ghosts around him or her.

Most ghosts exist on one “plane,” but they are not all consciously aware of each other. Through the “natural association” of the energy patterns that ghosts have we believe that these patterns can attract other ghosts of a similar empathetic frequency. This occurs in a similar manner to the way that ethnic neighborhoods in large cities are created - “birds of a feather flock together.”

The second line of reasoning is that ghosts are separated by the barriers of the various electromagnetic frequencies and thusly of time itself. If ghosts are on dissimilar frequencies they would not be aware of the other ghost’s presence. This can be thought of as like being on different planes of existence. To add to this, if ghosts are manifested within different dimensions, they would not be able to perceive the existence other ghosts either. Thusly, a ghost can be separated from other ghosts by their own limited perception, physics and time.

Q: Are ghosts here forever?

A: No, they only exist until their psychologically charged bioelectric bonds begin to break down, which can occur either by choice or with age from a cycle of half-life decay that takes place in the bonds of energy particles. After these bonds break down to a certain point the manifestations become less and less frequent and the strength of the manifestations begins to fade as well. If a ghost does not receive enough electromagnetic energy from a host source to support their existence their, electromagnetic bonds will begin to deteriorate.

Q: From the last answer it sounds like you are trying to tell me that a ghost can choose to “die” again?

A: Yes, to a certain extent. If a ghost made the conscious decision to continue their post mortem existence due to some sort of business that they felt the need to finish, when they feel that the business has been brought to a satisfactory level of completion they may make a conscious choice to disperse their energy back into the universe via conscious psychological will.

Q: Ok, I caught you! You said that the First Law of Thermodynamics prohibited energy from either being created or destroyed, but you just contradicted yourself.

A: Not at all, if you pay attention to the wording. I said that they could consciously dissipate their energy back into the universe; I did not say it would decay into nothingness. Upon dispersion of an electromagnetic wave, such as when a ghost finalizes its existence, there are streams of free electrons that are dispersed from a core source (remember the Second Law of Thermodynamics)? As this dispersion takes place, as dictated by the Second Law of Thermodynamics, the items, energies, or objects in the path of this dispersion would then pick up the free electrons that had been released and re-align them with their own sub-atomic structure, therefore contributing to the existence and stability of their own electromagnetic structure.

Q: Can ghosts lie dormant?

A: Yes. Stagnated electromagnetic energies can lie undisturbed in a dormant state almost indefinitely since energy can not be destroyed (according to the First Law of Thermodynamics). Once a catalyst or conduit is in place to “awaken” the energies, all that is needed is a trigger mechanism. Each haunting is unique as to its catalyst and trigger mechanism.

Q: Can we unintentionally keep ghosts here?

A: Yes. There are numerous avenues by which ghosts of loved ones or even ghosts of strangers can be unintentionally kept on this plane by the living. Many times, after a loved one passes away there is a period of mourning which varies from individual to individual. An excessively long or protracted period of mourning, especially when intense feelings are attached, can block the natural electromagnetic dispersion of that person’s energy even if they no longer wish to be tied to the manifested plane.

Q: What about famous ghosts - have we kept them here?

A: Yes and no. You must remember why these persons were famous, because it is what they wanted. They so enjoyed the spotlight in life so much that some wish to continue the act from beyond the grave. Many times the ghost of a celebrity chooses to continue its existence because of a desire to keep the spotlight on them and what they achieved in life. In addition to that thought, these ghosts also “feed” on the bioelectric thought forms of fans who still keep their memories alive in their minds and hearts, so in this case it’s a “catch-22.”

Q: Can a ghost just come into my house and take up residence, even if it was not there previously?

A: Yes. There is a case on which I have been working for some time now, and that is exactly what happened. A young couple moved into an old apartment building which, in the early to mid part of the 1900s, there was a citrus packing warehouse on the site. After the couple had been there over six months the young lady of the house began to have odd feelings of being watched while in the kitchen, which incidentally was on the second floor. Although no one could look in through the window she would experience the feelings of being watched that she had never felt during the prior time of their residence at the apartment. After a while, their television would begin to switch itself on between 11:45 pm and 12 am.

They called me and asked if I would investigate the matter. My wife (then fiancée) and I went to their residence one evening, around 7 pm and set up for an investigation. I could “feel” something was there, but a scientific investigation does not get proven on feelings. I went through the apartment in a through manner and made notations about various things I found. It was 11:52 and we were about to leave. All four of us were all in the living room, near the front door when the television in the master bedroom came on, then switched channels. They had told me about this, but I didn’t expect to see it first hand. They told me that the television always switched to a certain channel, no matter what channel it was on previously. Apparently, this ghost likes the cooking network, which may explain why the young lady felt as if she was being watched in the kitchen. I found that the television had previously been on a comedy channel, some distance away from the cooking network by the printed channel listing of their cable television provider.

I inspected the television to see if it was programmed or set in any way, or for any other scenario that would possibly suggest a logical explanation for this event. The couple told me that it happens infrequently on various nights, which if the television was programmed or set, it would happen at the same time every night. As an unofficial part of the investigation I took my pendulum and began to ask questions, awaiting a “yes” or “no” response for each question.

I was surprised at the amount of information I received from the ghost. My fiancée is pretty accurate when it comes to psychic matters so as I asked the questions and waited for the pendulum to respond, my fiancée at times would share the answer simultaneously with us, which the pendulum would corroborate. I found that the ghost was a Caucasian female with brown shoulder length hair and that her name was Mary Ann. She was 19 at the time she passed away and she said that she had passed away in a fire and that she did not have many friends while she was alive and that she was lonely. She also stated that she was attracted to the young couple because she liked them and wanted to be friends.

She said that her favorite room of the house is the living room and she liked to cook. She also revealed that she did not die in the residence where the young couple lived, but rather a couple of blocks away several decades ago. We wanted to talk to her more about many things, but she seemed to be getting agitated at times, which I believe was due to the difficulty in communicating. At that we wished her good night.

The young couple said that they don’t mind her being there. Since then, they have become used to her and “talk” to her on a regular basis. It took a lot of investigative work, interviews and digging through newspaper archived to find the evidence that I needed. Eventually, we found a small article with some useful information in a local newspaper archive that supported the accuracy of the story that the ghost had revealed to us. The young couple has since moved from the apartment and has not heard from “Mary Ann” since.

Q: If there is a ghost in my house will it hurt me or my family?  Should I try to get rid of it?

A: Not necessarily, to both questions. That is a situation where it is a judgment call that must be made by the residents. Most times a ghostly presence in a residential home is harmless and is only seeking attention. The attention helps it to maintain its bioelectric bonds so that it can continue to exist until such time when it no longer feels the need to be on the manifested plane. In the majority of cases, if you simply ignore it the ghost it will move on, seeking another source of bioelectric energy. However, there are times when a ghost or other entity, even after a period of relatively docile behavior can become violent, and occasionally dangerous. This is very uncommon as most ghosts tend to have a predictable behavior pattern that is either one way or another.

Q: So I can actually can call and communicate with ghosts? You mentioned a pendulum, what about an Ouija board?

A: Yes, you can freely speak with ghosts, especially if you are gifted enough to be on a psychic level that allows you to do so. EVP is a good method of one sided communication, but there are some people who possess other talents. Many people are not  truly gifted in the psychic realms, so we rely on other devices such as pendulums to aid us in our psychic perception.

Generally, devices such as pendulums have marginal admissible scientific value, depending upon whom you speak with. I must strongly state that although some “perception enhancement devices” are employed on occasion an Ouija board is not one of them.

True, Ouija boards can open up a line of communication between  the living and purported “ghosts.” However, unlike other methods of communication, this is an uncontrolled variable that could, and has, had some undesirable results in the past for some people. An Ouija board is like a radio receiver with all of the channels open to who ever wishes to speak. There is no concrete way of knowing that when you want to contact dear, departed uncle Bob through an Ouija board that the spirit that you are speaking with IS actually the ghost of uncle Bob. Just like humans, ghosts and other spirits can lie for no reason at all.

Once this contact is established, the spirit now has a direct line to your sub-conscious mind as well as your energies which are then focused to them through your attention on them. This energy is then amplified through the conduit of the board. An Ouija board works in conjunction with the energies of the sub-conscious mind. When you empty your mind so that you may concentrate to make contact, someone or something undesired may come in to fill that void and establish that contact.

Q: Earlier you mentioned that spirits usually will not follow you home from an investigation, but here you are saying that if you contact them with an Ouija board that they can become attached. Isn’t this a contradiction? How is this so?

A: No, it’s not a contradiction. Here’s why. First, when you use an Ouija board you must open your mind and empty it of all thoughts (or concentrate on a certain focal point) so that you may establish a line of communication that the ghost can utilize via the board. Once your mind is emptied of thoughts, you have created a void that will be filled by the bioelectric field of that spirit, which guides then planchette or other device, over the board via your body. While in this receptive state you allow yourself to become mentally prone to bioelectric energy bonding which is established by the spirit in a parasitic manner. This spirit now has a direct line into your mind and your psychological energy patterns. If the spirit is a malevolent one it may, in a manner of speaking, attach itself to you, like a psychic vampire or electromagnetic energy parasite.

Spirits can read your thoughts and memories in this state, and may “repeat” information that only you would know about people, places, events, and other things, thus giving a feeling that they are genuinely who they claim to be. They use their newly validated “authentic as who I say I am status” to keep in contact with the “host” so that they may take whatever they find within the mind of the “host” and keep it as theirs so that they may continue feeding on their emotional and psychological energies. This is almost a sort of “low grade” possession where, over time, the host may exhibit changes in personality, mood, etc.

Moving to the next subject, the reason that I say a parasitic spirit can follow you if it chooses to, even if you move across the country is fairly simple to understand. As your fingerprints are unique to only you, so are your brain waves. The bioelectric energy of your psychological patterns are unique to you and are somewhat like a “psychic fingerprint.” Thusly, this pattern, once it is understood is like a combination to a lock. It can be memorized and is then easy to open almost anywhere once the pattern of the waves are known.

Q: Woe! What you are describing sounds like possession! Is that what it is?

A: Yes. At this point, however, we must take the time to define exactly what possession is. Rarely, true full possession can take place but it does not occur in the manner that most people commonly think of. Most times people think of possession as it has been stereotyped in many popular Hollywood movies and in the mass media. Many persons think of possession as a long term, protracted state where the affected individual deviates from their normal lives and becomes a drastically changed person in both a physical, psychological, and emotional sense. What I am describing as true possession is a subtle undermining of the host’s sub-conscious mind by a parasitic creature who feeds off of the biomagnetic energy to prolong its existence without the consent of the “host” which, over time, typically results in psychological change, mood swings, and physical energy drain.

Q: What you’re saying is starting to scare me. Is that what you’re trying to do?

A: Not at all. I am simply warning you of some of the perils that you may face when you are either asked about certain subjects or when you are performing paranormal investigations yourself. I would rather tell you the truth than have you go out there blind to the possibilities, whether they may be good or bad.

Q: Ok, at least I know where you’re coming from now. Getting back to the discussion, you mentioned “planes” in one of the answers to an earlier question. Are these the same as dimensions?

A: No. Planes are actually different levels of material manifestation. Dimensions are generally thought of in the field of parapsychology and Quantum Mechanics as being intangible areas of electromagnetic manifestation which are potentially infinite in a theoretical sense that applies to our area of research. There are at lease three planes of material manifestation. The Prime or Physical Plane, which is where we exist, the Ethereal or Etheric plane, which is the plane just outside of our perception of existence, generally considered to be an “air-like” state between physical manifestation and true pure-energy existence, and the Astral plane, where pure electromagnetic energy exists in a state before it converges with other sources within the universe.

Q: Why are cemeteries, battlefields, old houses, and places such as these seem to be the stereotypical places to expect ghosts to manifest?

A: If you recall the previous discussion from earlier in the book there are some ghosts who have a linear association that keep them bound in a certain area. Historically old places, especially places where tragedy has struck or intense psychological or emotional turmoil have taken place seem to have layers of electromagnetic emanations that cause them to be far more prone to disembodied bioelectric anomalies. That line of reasoning, coupled with the thought that the ghost may feel that they still have some work to finish, etc. at that place may indicate a strong reasoning for the stereotypes.

Q: Why do ghosts only come out at night?

A: Ghosts roam during the daytime, but their existence is noted far less frequently due to the fact that the bombardment of Visible Light onto the manifested plane causes a “washout” or an overpowering of the IR light. The fact that Visible Light, being on the next higher step of the spectrum, is of a shorter wavelength and higher frequency, causes most of the wavelength and frequency of IR light to be rendered ineffective for the most part while the Visible Light is the dominant force during the day. Once nightfall occurs, IR light is again the dominant frequency.

Q: Is this why I have more success at getting ghost photos at night?

A: Yes. This is true for traditional film-style cameras, but especially true for digital equipment. If you are using a traditional film-style camera, it is common knowledge that is best to use 400 speed or better to capture the anomalies.

Q: Does the brand of film I use matter?

A: Absolutely. It has been proven that Kodak Gold film picks up the red-orange end of the electromagnetic spectrum better, while Fuji film gets the blue-green end of the spectrum. Generic brands are not recommended because they are generally manufactured with inferior materials and do not have the same resolution or quality. Personally, I use various brands of film and keep both my traditional film-style camera and digital equipment on hand for use during an investigation. I like to make use of various forms of media during an investigation because what some won’t pick up others will. Diversity in media and equipment is always a plus.

Q: What about film speed? Is there a difference? What do you recommend?

A: Film speed definitely makes a difference. I recommend no less than 400 ISO. Although anomalies have been captured on 200 ISO I have found that most times anything lower than 400 ISO does not have the ability catch the rapid movement of the electromagnetic anomalies that we encounter.

Q: You said that anything lower than 400 speed film usually does not catch the anomalies. Why do you say usually?

A: Generally speeds below 400 ISO do not have the ability to capture high speed or high energy anomalies, however that is not to say that it can not be done. There are numerous photos that have been taken on film at a lower speed, however at the lower speed clarity and quality of the image is sacrificed.

Q: What brand of camera is best? Is a digital camera better than a regular film type camera?

A: In reality, there is no “best brand.” Each camera has its pros and cons, but whatever camera is best suited to you as far as ease of use and budget will provide the vehicle for you to get ghost photographs. Preferably, if you choose a film-type camera, it is best if you get a 35 mm.

As far as the digital vs. film debate I find that the two can not be compared as they are both technologically different and utilize two different types of media to record images. I must interject one note on digital cameras, however. If you decide on a digital camera, it has been found that anything with a pixel count larger than 2.1 mega pixels tends to pick up particles of dust in the atmosphere on a more frequent basis. This could be a recipe for false orbs.

Q: Can spirits shape-shift or change form and do they have the ability to solidify?

A: Yes, although the ability for a spirit to shapeshift is not as most of us would typically think of it in terms of shapeshifiting. If a ghost was once human they would not be able to manifest into other shapes, forms, creatures, animals, etc. When a ghost manifests it may do so in any one of several forms such as a vortex, an orb, a mist, ectoplasm, energy ribbons, human forms, etc.

Shapeshifting from one form to another is not common when they are manifested because it would theoretically change the density, frequency, and wavelength of the ghost which could lead to instability in the manifestation. Usually, if it is a conscious choice that the ghost understands how to execute they may choose one form or another to manifest in. As far as solidification goes, a ghost can not consciously cause their electromagnetic mass to condense into a form that would be intrinsically solid, at least in a physical sense. They do harbor the capabilities to change the density of their electromagnetic mass, therefore appearing to be more or less solid but never truly tangible.
